Recap: Arkansas State vs. Idaho

Jonesboro, AR (SportsNetwork.com) - Adam Kennedy threw for 375 yards and four touchdowns as he led the Arkansas State Red Wolves to a convincing 48-24 win over the Idaho Vandals in non-conference action at Liberty Bank Stadium.

Kennedy converted 22-of-32 passes, was picked off once and sacked two times as Arkansas State (3-3) managed to snap a two-game slide. Darion Griswold caught five passes for 89 yards and two scores, while Julian Jones stretched four receptions into a game-high 135 yards and a TD as well.

The Vandals (2-5) were paced by James Baker who generated a game-high 150 rushing yards and scored twice on 23 carries in the setback. Taylor Davis converted a mere 14-of-39 pass attempts for 199 yards and a score in the losing effort.

ASU ran out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to a pair of touchdown passes to Jones and J.D. McKissic of 80 and 13 yards, respectively.

The Vandals cut the lead in half at the 1:29 mark of the first when Baker crossed the goal line on a four-yard run.

The Red Wolves continued to pile on however, adding 10 more points in the second quarter courtesy of a 38-yard field goal by Brian Davis and a 13-yard TD catch by Griswold to give the hosts a 24-7 advantage at the break.

Griswold struck again less than five minutes into the third when he and Kennedy hooked up for a one-yard TD pass play.

Refusing to go away quietly, Idaho then ran off 17 straight points over the third and fourth quarters, beginning with a 28-yard field goal by Austin Rehkow, followed by a 15-yard TD catch by Dezmon Epps and a one-yard TD from Baker, making the score 31-24 with 14:22 left in regulation.

Unfortunately for the Vandals, the ensuing kickoff was returned 98 yards for a score by McKissic just moments later. The Red Wolves padded their lead with a 21-yard Davis field goal and a three-yard David Oku TD run.

The Red Wolves generated 565 yards of total offense, but the team also hurt itself with 14 penalties for a loss of 110 yards on the night.

The Vandals have now been outscored 109-38 in the last two games, having lost to nationally-ranked Fresno State last week, 61-14, at home.
