Recap: Virginia Tech vs. Bowling Green

Blacksburg, VA (Sports Network) - Logan Thomas threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, as the Virginia Tech Hokies blanked Bowling Green, 37-0 at Lane Stadium.

Thomas threw for 144 yards and added another 65 on the ground in the win. Tony Gregory rushed for a game-high 68 yards for the Hokies (3-1), who dropped out of the national rankings following last week's loss at Pittsburgh.

The Falcons (1-3) lost on the road for the third time in as many tries this season. Quarterbacks Matt Schilz and Matt Johnson combined to complete only 14-of-42 passes for 133 yards and an interception.

After a scoreless first quarter, Virginia Tech grabbed a 7-0 lead on Thomas' 10-yard touchdown pass to J.C. Coleman at the 9:25 mark of the second quarter.

Less than three minutes later, Thomas found Dyrell Roberts for a 42-yard scoring strike to make it a 14-0 game.

The Hokies pushed their lead to 21-0 on Thomas' one-yard touchdown plunge with 1:10 to play until halftime.

Virginia Tech extended the margin to 27-0 with just under nine minutes to play in the third quarter, as Michael Holmes capped a 61-yard drive with a two-yard TD scamper. Cody Journell missed the extra-point attempt.

The Hokies padded their lead in the fourth quarter. Journell kicked a 35-yard field goal with 13:30 to play in regulation. Four minutes later, Martin Scales scored on a four-yard run.

Virginia Tech made five trips inside the red zone and scored on all five, including four touchdowns.
