Recap: BYU vs. Hawaii

Provo, UT (Sports Network) - Taysom Hill threw for a pair of scores and ran for another, as BYU routed Hawaii, 47-0, on Friday.

Hill, a freshman, completed 12-of-21 passes for 112 yards with an interception and ran for 143 yards on 15 carries, highlighted by a 68-yard scoring scamper in the second quarter.

Jamaal Williams had 15 rushes for 155 yards and two touchdowns while Paul Lasike also ran for a pair of scores for the Cougars (3-2), who halted a two- game slide.

Sean Schroeder threw for 108 yards and an interception on 12-of-27 passing in the loss, while Will Gregory finished with 68 yards on 20 carries.

Billy Ray Stutzmann had 65 yards on four catches for the Warriors (1-3), who were coming off a 69-24 setback versus Nevada in their Mountain West Conference opener.

Hill had three carries and three completions during BYU's opening drive. Williams reeled in a 24-yard catch on the march before crossing the goal line from two yards out for a 7-0 lead.

The teams then traded interceptions and a Hawaii punt followed before Hill opened the second quarter with a 22-yard scoring strike to Ross Apo.

Later in the quarter, Hill burst through the line of scrimmage and raced past the Warriors' secondary en route to a 68-yard touchdown gallop and a 20-0 advantage after the extra point was blocked.

BYU thwarted a fake punt on Hawaii's ensuing possession, then forced a three- and-out to maintain the lead heading into the half.

Two plays into the third quarter, Kyle Van Noy blindsided Schroeder, resulting in a loose ball which was recovered by BYU's Spencer Hadley at the Hawaii 3.

Williams' short touchdown burst moments later made it 27-0.

The Cougars brought Gregory down in the backfield on 4th-and-2 near midfield on the Warriors' ensuing touch, and although Hill didn't immediately capitalize, he did manage to hit Devin Mahina for a 12-yard score and a 34-0 lead later in the third.

Another sack and fumble of Schroeder led to Lasike's four-yard touchdown run at the end of the quarter. James Lark made the hit on Schroeder and Bronson Kaufusi recovered the loose ball at the Hawaii 23.

Riley Stephenson missed the ensuing extra point, making it 40-0 entering the fourth.

There, Lasike capped a 72-yard drive with a short touchdown plunge to seal the final result.
