Tallahassee, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Syracuse cornerback Julian Whigham left Saturday's 59-3 loss against Florida State in the first quarter with an apparent chest injury.

Whigham appeared to have been injured when his own teammate collided with him in an unsuccessful attempt to stop Rashad Greene's 6-yard touchdown reception late in the period. Whigham's arm was bent at an awkward angle underneath his chest once all three players fell to the ground in the end zone.

The sophomore was on the turf in pain for several minutes before being taken from the field on a stretcher to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

Tests taken to determine the severity of the injury revealed internal bleeding in his chest area.
