Recap: Holy Cross vs. Yale

Worcester, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Sears scored 18 points and blocked five shots, as the Yale Bulldogs held off the Holy Cross Crusaders, 71-66, in the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament at the Hart Center.

Sears made good on 7-of-13 shots from the field for the Bulldogs (17-13), which will take on a yet-to-be-determined opponent in the quarterfinals. Javier Duren added 13 points for the visitors.

For Holy Cross (20-14), Malcolm Miller had 18 points and seven rebounds, while Dave Dudzinski and Anthony Thompson netted 11 points apiece.

Both teams shot an identical 13-of-25 from the field in the first half, but Holy Cross sank five 3-pointers to Yale's two, as the Crusaders took a 34-31 lead into intermission.

The Bulldogs opened the second half on a 15-6 run to take a six-point lead with 13:12 remaining. The Crusaders battled back to take a 66-65 advantage with 1:43 to play on a pair of Thompson free throws, but Yale responded on its next possession when Armani Cotton drilled the game-winning 3-pointer.

Yale finished the game shooting 55.3 percent from the floor while winning the rebounding battle, 30-24.
