Recap: Ohio vs. Ball State

Athens, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Nick Kellogg tallied a game-high 17 points, leading four starters in double figures, as the Ohio Bobcats claimed a 76-64 win over the Ball State Cardinal in the first round of the 35th annual Mid- American Conference Tournament at the Convocation Center.

Javarez Willis added 15 points and matched Kellogg with a team-best five assists for the fifth-seeded Bobcats (22-10). Travis Wilkins accounted for 14 points, hitting 4-of-5 shots behind the 3-point line, followed by Antonio Campbell with 12 points in 17 minutes of action.

The 12th-seeded Cardinals (5-25) were led by Zavier Turner with 14 points and seven assists, but he shot only 4-of-12 from the floor on the night. Majok Majok added 13 points, Franko House 12 and Jesse Berry 10 points in the losing cause.

Ohio led the game from start to finish, converting an even 50.0 percent from the field in the first half, including 7-of-15 behind the 3-point line, en route to a 38-26 edge at the break.

After converting just 1-of-8 beyond the arc in the first half, Ball State converted 3-of-13 on the perimeter over the final 20 minutes, allowing the hosts to come away with the double-digit win.

Ohio, which led by as many as 22 points in the first half thanks to a 20-0 run, held BSU to only 4-of-21 shooting on the outside.

The Bobcats will be back in action on Wednesday night against the Miami-Ohio RedHawks who defeated Kent State tonight, 71-64, at home.
