John Puk and Anders Haas contributed 11 points each, while D.J. Evans netted 10 points. Luke Devlin led the Great Danes on the glass with seven boards.

For the Retrievers (9-21), Rodney Elliot and Quentin Jones finished with 18 points apiece. Will Darley added eight points, seven rebounds and four assists.

UMBC went into the intermission facing a 38-17 deficit after it was limited to 25 percent efficiency from the floor, including a 2-of-11 clip from 3-point range in the first half.

Albany extended its advantage after the break by connecting on 7-of-12 tries from beyond the arc. The Retrivers heated up to sink 56 percent of their shots from the floor in the second stanza, but it was too little too late.
