Recap: Grand Canyon vs. Middle Tennessee

Chattanooga, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Shawn Jones scored 18 points to help Middle Tennessee claim third place in the Dr. Pepper Classic with a 79-56 win over Grand Canyon from McKenzie Arena.

Jones added nine rebounds and four blocks as Middle Tennessee (9-5) broke a brief two-game losing skid. Reggie Upshaw and Neiko Hunter netted 12 points apiece, while Kerry Hammonds donated 11. Jaqawn Raymond tallied nine points with a game-high five assists off the bench.

Killian Larson led all scorers with 22 points and 14 boards as Grand Canyon (5-8) lost its fifth straight tilt. Jerome Garrison added 14 points, while the rest of the Antelopes shot just 2-for-12 from the field.

Middle Tennessee led 12-0 early on and never trailed, extending its advantage to 42-24 at halftime. The Blue Raiders shot 54.8 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes and scored 19 points off of 10 Grand Canyon turnovers, while the Antelopes failed to capitalize on any of Middle Tennessee's three miscues.

The Blue Raiders led by at least 16 throughout the second half and rolled to the victory.
