Recap: Missouri State vs. Virginia

Corpus Christi, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Anderson tallied 23 points for the Virginia Cavaliers, helping them cruise to victory over the Missouri State Bears, 83-63, in the championship game of the Corpus Christi Challenge at the American Bank Center.

Anderson shot 10-of-13 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range for the Cavaliers (7-1). Joe Harris (15 points), Mike Tobey (14) and Brogdon Malcolm (13) supplied the remaining bulk of the offense.

Jarmar Gulley and Gavin Thurman each contributed 14 points for the Bears (6-1) in the team's first loss of the season. Emmanuel Addo helped out with another 10 points.

The composed Cavaliers shot 56 percent from the field in the first half of play, with 4-of-11 coming from long range. The Bears, who hit only 8-of-20 from the floor (40 percent) struggled to establish their offense and trailed 32-22 at halftime.

Virginia continued its steady performance, shooting 57.1 percent from the field in the second half and adding another 14 points at the line. Missouri State's slightly improved 42.9 percent from the field was not enough to get the team back in the game.

The Cavaliers dominated on the glass, grabbing 38 rebounds to the Bears' 22.
