Recap: Youngstown St vs. Oakland

Youngstown, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Travis Bader continued to assault opponents from behind the 3-point line, hitting 6-of-13 on Saturday, as the Oakland Golden Grizzlies posted an 87-81 win over the Youngstown State Penguins in Horizon League action at the Beeghly Center.

Bader finished with 33 points, converting 11-of-19 from the floor overall and a perfect 5-of-5 at the free-throw line for the Golden Grizzlies (12-19, 7-9 HL) as they won for the second time in the last three outings. Corey Petros logged a double-double for the visitors with 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Kahlil Felder had one of his own with 10 points and 12 assists.

The Penguins (15-16, 6-10) were paced by Kendrick Perry with 30 points as he knocked down 11-of-18 shots from the field, adding eight assists and five rebounds for a team that lost a third straight decision. Bobby Hain came off the bench to contribute 15 points and eight boards, Ryan Weber added 13 points, Shawn Amiker 12 and DJ Cole 11 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the losing cause.

Both teams shot at least 56 percent from the field in the first half, but thanks to a 7-of-12 showing beyond the arc for Youngstown State, it was the host with a 45-43 edge at the break.

In the second half the teams again shot the ball well from the floor at no less than 51.5 percent, but this time around the visitors connected on 6-of-12 beyond the arc and outscored YSU at the charity stripe, 12-1.

The difference in the meeting took place at the free-throw line where the Penguins were outscored, 17-11.
