Recap: Northeastern vs. Towson

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Rafriel Guthrie scored a game-high 21 points, leading four starters in double figures, as the Towson Tigers took down the Northeastern Huskies, 79-70, in Colonial Athletic Association action at Matthews Arena.

Mike Burwell contributed 19 points and both Marcus Damas and Timajh Parker- Rivera 13 points and five rebounds for the Tigers (19-9, 10-3 CAA) as they won for the third game in a row and seventh in the last eight outings.

Losers of three of the last four, the Huskies (9-19, 6-8) were paced by TJ Williams with 17 points as he shot a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor and 4-of-4 at the free-throw line for the hosts. Scott Eatherton just missed out on another double-double with 15 points and a game-high nine rebounds, while David Walker and Reggie Spencer accounted for 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Northeastern knocked down 53.8 percent from the field in the first half, but only 1-of-4 behind the 3-point line, en route to a 34-31 advantage at the break.

In the second half Towson battled back from a five-point deficit about eight minutes into the period and eventually pulled away down the stretch thanks to a near-perfect 16-of-17 showing at the free-throw line and a sizzling 63.6 percent accuracy from the floor over the final 20 minutes.

The game featured nine ties and 12 lead changes as Towson finished the night hitting on 54.2 percent from the field and 20-of-22 at the charity stripe.
