Recap: Quinnipiac vs. Monmouth

Hamden, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - Ousmane Drame registered a double-double with 15 points and 21 rebounds as the Quinnipiac Bobcats defeated the Monmouth Hawks, 70-61, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference contest at TD Bank Sports Center.

Drame also blocked seven shots in the win. Umar Shannon paced the Bobcats (10-6, 5-2 MAAC) with 16 points, registering five assists as well. Zaid Hearst had 15 points while Ike Azotam chipped in 10. Shaq Shannon tallied seven assists for the Bobcats, who have won four of their last five games.

Deon Jones logged a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards for the Hawks (8-10, 2-5). Andrew Nicholas scored 14 points as Zac Tillman and Josh James each had 11 points apiece. The Hawks have lost two in a row.

Monmouth made 38.7 percent of its field goal tries in the first half as the team held a slim 31-29 lead at the break. Quinnipiac shot 37.5 percent from the floor, including 3-of-11 from 3-point range.

The Bobcats woke up in the second half, converting on 54.2 percent of their field goal attempts. The Hawks only made 37.9 percent of their shots from the field, including 0-of-7 from beyond the arc. Midway through the second period, Quinnipiac went on a 10-2 run to pull away and secure the victory.

Quinnipiac dominated the glass by holding a 48-34 rebounding advantage, and a 23-7 second-chance point edge.
