Recap: Western Ill vs. William & Mary

Macomb, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Thornton scored 25 points to go along with six assists and six rebounds, leading the William & Mary Tribe in a 78-67 win over the Western Illinois Leathernecks at Western Hall.

Omar Prewitt scored 18 and grabbed eight rebounds to help W&M (8-5) win their fourth game in their last five contests. Julian Boatner and Kyle Gaillard both scored 10 for the Tribe.

The Leathernecks (6-9) were led by Garret Covington, who scored a game-high 26 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field. Michael Ochereobia scored 12 points, going 5-of-5 on his field goal attempts, and had four assists. Tate Stensgaard had a team-high seven rebounds and five of the team's 13 turnovers. The Leathernecks have now lost three of their last four games.

The Tribe took a narrow 37-34 lead into the locker room, despite the Leathernecks shooting 56 percent from the field and 80 percent from behind the arc. The Tribe shot well themselves, hitting 52 percent of their shots from the field and 58.3 percent from the 3-point line. The Tribe ended the half on a 16-4 run over the final 4:37.

In the second half the Tribe broke the game open with a 12-3 run after taking a timeout with 15:53 remaining in the contest. The Leathernecks cut the lead to 61-59 on a pair of free-throws by Ochereobia with 4:29 remaining, but the Tribe ended the game on a 17-9 run.

Both teams made 24 field goals, with W&M taking just one more shot from the field. The Tribe won the battle in points off the bench, 22-16.
