Vermillion, SD (SportsNetwork.com) - Karim Rowson scored just 11 points, yet he was the leading scorer for South Dakota as the Coyotes claimed a 64-54 win over the Western Illinois Leathernecks in Summit League action at the DakotaDome.

Also scoring in double figures for the Coyotes (12-15, 6-6 Summit) was Tyler Larson with 10 points, to go along with his six rebounds for a team that has won three straight.

The Leathernecks (9-18, 3-9) were paced by Garret Covington with 19 points and eight rebounds, followed by Jabari Sandifer and Michael Ochereobia with 12 and 10 points, respectively, as the team suffered a sixth straight setback.

South Dakota made good on just 41.7 percent from the field in the first half, compared to 47.8 percent for the visitors, but the big difference took place behind the 3-point line where WIU was just 1-of-8 and the Coyotes 5-of-12, en route to a 30-24 advantage at the break.

In the second half the Leathernecks again struggled on the perimeter (2-of-9), not to mention at the free-throw line (6-of-12) where the hosts were a perfect 12-of-12 over the final 20 minutes.

South Dakota, which registered a mere four offensive rebounds, outscored the visitors at the charity stripe, 17-7.
