Recap: William & Mary vs. Hofstra

Williamsburg, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Omar Prewitt and Brandon Britt both netted 16 points, as the William & Mary Tribe defeated the Hofstra Pride, 79-74, in a Colonial Athletic Association bout at Kaplan Arena.

Kyle Gaillard poured in 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field for William & Mary (18-10, 10-5 CAA), winners of two straight. Marcus Thornton added 13 points and Terry Tarpey hauled in 10 rebounds

For Hofstra (8-22, 4-11), losers of five in a row, Zeke Upshaw scored a game- high 28 points with a school-record-tying seven 3-pointers, although he was just 7-of-20 from the field overall. Jamall Robinson and Dion Nesmith had 15 points apiece, Moussa Kone posted 10 points and Stephen Nwaukoni collected 12 rebounds.

William & Mary shot 46.7 percent from the field in the first half while Hofstra made good on only 30.8 percent of its tries from the floor, as it carried a 35-25 lead into the break.

The Tribe never surrendered their lead in the second stanza, and while the Pride brought their deficit to only two points in the final minute, William & Mary shot 5-of-5 from the free-throw line down the stretch to put the game away.

Both teams were effective from 3-point range, with William & Mary shooting 10- of-22 and Hofstra at 11-of-26.
