Recap: James Madison vs. Hofstra
Harrisonburg, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Ron Curry scored a game-high 20 points and handed out six assists as the James Madison Dukes posted a 59-53 win over the Hofstra Pride in a Colonial Athletic Association contest at the JMU Convocation Center.
Charles Cooke added 15 points, eight rebounds and three steals for the Dukes (9-16, 4-7 CAA), followed by Andre Nation with 13 points off the bench as the team snapped a three-game slide.
The Pride (8-18, 4-7) were paced by Zeke Upshaw with 15 points, while Dion Nesmith and Jamall Robinson both contributed 10 points and six boards as the team bowed for the sixth time in the last seven outings.
Hofstra had a tough time of it in the first half as the team converted just eight total field goals, and even though JMU missed all seven attempts behind the 3-point line through the first 20 minutes, the hosts led by double figures at the break, 34-24.
The Dukes opened the second half on an 8-2 run and led by as many as 17 in the frame, but inside seven minutes remaining in regulation Hofstra was back on top by a point at 47-46. However, the Pride again knocked down just eight field goals in the period, allowing the Dukes to take control down the stretch and secure the victory.
James Madison, which failed to hit a single 3-point shot on 11 attempts, held the visitors to only 29.1 percent from the floor.Game Notes
