Recap: Stony Brook vs. Vermont

Stony Brook, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Jameel Warney scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Stony Brook Seawolves took down the Vermont Catamounts, 67-64, in America East action at Pritchard Gymnasium.

Anthony Jackson netted 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting off the bench for Stony Brook (14-6, 6-0 America East). Carson Puriefoy chipped in 11 points in the win. The Seawolves have won five games in a row.

Hector Harold tallied 17 points off the bench to lead Vermont (11-9, 5-1). Ethan O'Day scored 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds, and Kurt Steidl added 13 points in the loss. Brian Voelkel chipped in seven points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out nine assists for the Catamounts, who had a seven-game win streak snapped.

Stony Brook rocketed out of the gates, shooting 54.5 percent from the floor in the first half, while Vermont connected on just 38.5 percent of its shots in the frame. The Seawolves took a 44-28 lead at the break.

Stony Brook went cold in the second half, shooting just 36 percent from the field, as Vermont nearly completed the comeback by shooting 37.1 percent in the period. The Catamounts outscored the Seawolves, 36-23, in the half.

Stony Brook had the edge in second chance points, 15-10, and in rebounding, 39-35. Vermont had the advantage in bench points, 46-20, and in points off turnovers, 13-7.
