Recap: Hofstra vs. Manhattan

Hempstead, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Michael Alvarado scored 23 points and dished out six assists as the Manhattan Jaspers took down the Hofstra Pride, 66-59, in a non-conference battle at the Mack Sports Complex.

Ashton Pankey added 10 points off the bench for Manhattan (4-2).

Zeke Upshaw paced Hofstra (2-5) with 21 points while Darren Payen tacked on 10 off the bench.

Hofstra managed to hold a slim 30-27 lead at halftime by netting 45.8 percent of its field goal tries, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc, during the opening frame.

The Jaspers, who hit only 34.6 percent from the field in the first half, heated up to 53.8 percent shooting during the final 20 minutes to rally for the win. Hofstra turned in a 34.6 percent shooting effort in the second stanza.

Manhattan dominated the Pride by a 36-16 count on points in the paint.
