Recap: Northeastern vs. Delaware

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Carl Baptiste converted all nine of his field goal attempts, finishing with a double-double consisting of 19 points and 11 rebounds, as the Delaware Blue Hens pulled out a 74-70 win over the Northeastern Huskies in Colonial Athletic Association action at Matthews Arena.

Coming up two assists shy of his own double-double for Delaware (12-7, 4-0 CAA) was Devon Saddler who accounted for a team best 22 points, followed by Davon Usher with 17 points and the Blue Hens extended their win streak to six in a row.

The Huskies (5-14, 2-3) were paced by David Walker with 20 points, Scott Eatherton delivered 15 and nine rebounds, followed by Zach Stahl with 12 points and a team-best 11 rebounds as the team bowed for the third time in the last four outings. Eatherton entered the weekend leading the nation in double- doubles with 14.

Delaware fell behind by three at the half, 30-27, due to the fact that the squad failed to make a single trip to the free-throw line and shot only 1-of-9 behind the 3-point line in the period. Shooting an even 50 percent from the field in the half kept the Blue Hens in the mix, as did a defensive effort that limited Northeastern to just 10-of-30 shooting from the floor.

In the second half the visitors pulled ahead by virtue of 62.5 percent accuracy from the floor, including 6-of-10 beyond the arc, en route to the four-point victory.

The Huskies managed to stick around thanks to a 38-32 rebounding advantage, coming up with 14 boards at the offensive end while the Hens captured just two offensive boards.
