Recap: Western Carolina vs. Samford
Cullowhee, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - James Sinclair finished with 15 points and seven rebounds to lift the Western Carolina Catamounts to a 67-64 win over the Samford Bulldogs in a Southern Conference tilt at the Ramsey Center.
The Catamounts (11-8, 4-0 SoCon) also received 13 points and six assists courtesy of Trey Sumler, who went 4-of-12 from the field. Brandon Boggs tallied 10 points as WCU picked up its fifth consecutive victory.
Isaiah Williams led Samford (7-13, 1-4) with 15 points. Tim Williams and Tyler Hood contributed 11 points each.
The Bulldogs took a 33-30 lead into the intermission after they shot 47.8 percent from the field including 5-of-11 from 3-point range in the opening 20 minutes of the contest. WCU hit 2-of-6 attempts from beyond the arc in the first half.
Samford cooled off to connect on only 38.5 percent of its field goal tries after the break. Although the Catamounts shot 37 percent from the floor, they managed to connect on 5-of-15 tries from 3-point range in the second stanza. Samford's Raijon Kelly missed a 3-point field goal attempt with four seconds left, which allowed WCU to come out of the bout victorious despite a 12-of-20 clip at the charity stripe in the second half.
The Catamounts enjoyed a 37-30 edge in the rebounding battle which helped them outscore the visitors, 12-5, in second chance points.Game Notes
