In the first half, Marist showcased a confident offensive performance, shooting 53.3 percent from the floor. Shooting 48 percent on several less attempts from the field, Charleston went into halftime trailing, 43-28.

Shooting only 33.3 percent from the field in the second half, the Cougars made up some ground at the line, where they shot 9-of-10, and kept the game close. The Red Foxes were a dreadful 5-of-16 from the stripe, but their 40.9 percent from the floor was enough to hold onto the lead.

The Foxes outscored the Cougars 17-11 on points off turnovers and knocked down eight shots from beyond the arc, twice as many as their opponent, on the way to their first win of the season.
