Recap: Western Mich vs. Ohio

Kalamazoo, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Austin Richie scored 22 points and David Brown poured in 20, as the Western Michigan Broncos downed the Ohio University Bobcats, 90-74, in a Mid-American Conference bout at University Arena.

Richie and Brown combined to shoot 7-of-9 from 3-point range for WMU (13-8, 6-3 MAC), which has won four of five. Shayne Whittington and Connar Tava both netted 18 points for the home team.

For Ohio (16-6, 6-3), Maurice Ndour led the way with 20 points, while Nick Kellogg put up 13 points and five assists and T.J. Hall and Stevie Taylor had 12 points apiece.

Ohio held a lead as large as 11 in the opening stanza, but WMU outscored the Bobcats 10-0 in the final 3:06 to go into the break leading, 37-36.

The teams battled back and forth in the second half until the Broncos pulled away with a 15-2 run to give them a double-digit lead with under six minutes left.

Ohio shot 51.9 percent from the field on the evening, but WMU was even better at 59.6 percent. The Broncos also outscored the Bobcats at the foul line, 26-7.
