Recap: Northern Ill vs. Ohio

DeKalb, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Nick Kellogg led the way with 16 points as the Ohio University Bobcats topped the Northern Illinois Huskies, 65-46, in a Mid-American Conference clash at the Convocation Center.

For the Bobcats (13-4, 3-1 MAC), Maurice Ndour added 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds.

Aaron Armstead and Travon Baker each finished with 12 points to lead the Huskies (7-9, 1-3).

Ohio was sharp to start the game, connecting on 50 percent of its field goal tries and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc in the first half. NIU shot just 33.3 percent from the field in the first, including 2-of-8 from 3-point range, but they outscored the Bobcats 6-0 at the free-throw line to allow the Huskies to lead at the break, 24-23.

After intermission, Ohio stayed accurate from the floor, hitting on 53.6 percent of its shots and a sizzling 7-of-14 from 3-point distance. NIU again struggled from the field, shooting just 25 percent and missing all but two of its 10 3-point tries. The Bobcats used a 14-2 run early in the second to turn a one-point deficit into an 11-point advantage. They cruised the rest of the way and snagged their sixth win in their last seven outings.

Ohio was strong in the paint, outscoring NIU 22-12. The Bobcats dominated from the perimeter as well, finishing the game with a 30-12 scoring advantage from 3-point range.
