Recap: Furman vs. Citadel

Greenville, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Stephen Croone tallied 23 points, five rebounds and four assists to propel the Furman Paladins to a 76-67 victory over The Citadel Bulldogs in a Southern Conference bout at Timmons Arena.

William Gates added 12 points for Furman (8-17, 2-10 SoCon) as it snapped a five-game losing streak. Charlie Reddick recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards, while Adonis Rwabigwi scored 11 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked four shots.

For the Bulldogs (4-23, 0-12), Ashton Moore netted a team-high 22 points. Matt Van Scyoc contributed 12 points and P.J. Horgan finished with 10 boards. The Citadel's loss was its 15th setback in a row.

The Paladins connected on 48.1 percent of their field goal attempts and held a 22-11 advantage in total rebounds in the opening stanza. The Citadel went into the break trailing, 38-27, after it was limited to 35.7 percent efficiency from the floor in the first half.

The Bulldogs improved to knock down 39.3 percent of its field goal tries and converted 14-of-16 shots at the charity stripe after the intermission. Furman sank 11-of-15 attempts at the free-throw line and hit on 46.2 percent of its shots from the floor in the second stanza to keep the visitors at bay.

The Paladins enjoyed a 38-29 edge in the rebounding battle and outscored The Citadel, 30-18, in the paint.
