Recap: Kent State vs. Western Mich
Kent, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Shayne Whittington had 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting as the Western Michigan Broncos defeated the Kent State Golden Flashes, 75-59, in a Mid-American Conference contest at the M.A.C. Center.
David Brown had 17 points for the Broncos (10-7, 3-2 MAC), who stopped a two- game skid and a 10-game losing streak against Kent State on the road. Tucker Haymond and Austin Richie scored in double figures with 16 and 11 points respectively, while Connar Tava brought down 10 rebounds.
Kris Brewer and Darren Goodson scored 10 points apiece for the Golden Flashes (11-7, 2-3). Khaliq Spicer added eight points and cleared seven boards.
The Broncos made 44.4 percent of their field goal attempts in the first half as they led 34-24 at the break. Kent State shot a miserable 26.4 percent from the field, including 2-of-13 from 3-point range.
WMU connected on 56 percent of its shot attempts from the floor in the second stanza as the Broncos were able to coast to an easy win. They started the period on a 16-0 run and never looked back.
