Recap: Niagara vs. St Bonaventure

Lewiston, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Charlon Kloof made a layup as time expired to give the St. Bonaventure Bonnies a 74-72 win over the Niagara Purple Eagles in a non-conference game at the Gallagher Center.

Kloof led the Bonnies (8-4) with 18 points. Jordan Gathers and Dion Wright each added 14 points, while Wright also brought down 11 boards. Andell Cumberbatch chipped in 11 points for the visitors.

Antoine Mason scored 24 points for Niagara (3-9). Marvin Jordan added 20 points, while Marcus Ware collected eight rebounds.

The Bonnies shot 48.4 percent from the field, including 3-of-10 from 3-point range in the first half. They held a 39-29 lead going into the break. Niagara made 42.9 percent of its field goal tries and went 4-of-8 from beyond the arc in the opening stanza.

The Purple Eagles picked up the pace in the second period, making 54.5 percent of their shots from the field. St. Bonaventure struggled by shooting 37.1 percent from the floor. With 1:39 left, Wright made a layup to tie the game at 72. From that point on neither team would make a basket until Kloof connected on his game-winning layup at the buzzer.

St. Bonaventure took advantage of 20 offensive rebounds, outscoring Niagara 15-3 on second-chance points.
