Recap: Richmond vs. Hofstra
Richmond, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Cedrick Lindsay scored 26 points on 10- of-19 from the field, as the Richmond Spiders held off the Hofstra Price in overtime, 74-63, as part of the Hall of Fame Tip Off at the Robins Center.
Kendall Anthony provided a spark off the bench for Richmond (3-1) with 18 points on 5-of-12 from beyond the arc, while Trey Davis tallied 10 rebounds and three blocks.
For Hofstra (1-3), Zeke Upshaw had a career-night with 37 points and nine rebounds, doing a lot of his damage from the foul line (15-of-18). No other player scored more than 10 points, although Jordan Allen and Stephen Nwaukoni both grabbed double-digit rebounds with 11 and 10, respectively.
Hofstra started the contest on the right foot, as it outshot Richmond from the field in the first half, 57.1 percent to 37.5 percent, on its way to a 33-24 lead at the break.
The Pride continued to lead for the majority of the second half, including by three with under a minute remaining when Williams converted a layup and was fouled with 43 seconds to play. He completed the three-point play to tie the score at 58-58, and after empty possessions by both squads, the game went to overtime.
The Spiders took control in the extra session by shooting 4-of-8 from the field and 7-of-10 from the free-throw line, while Hofstra failed to make a field goal in five attempts over the final five minutes.
Hofstra was plagued by 19 turnovers, which turned into 23 points for Richmond. The Spiders committed just eight turnovers themselves.Game Notes
