Recap: VA Commonwealth vs. Rhode Island

Richmond, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Juvonte Reddic recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Virginia Commonwealth Rams to a 68-52 victory over the Rhode Island Rams in an Atlantic 10 Conference tilt at the Siegel Center.

Jordan Burgess added 11 points for VCU (19-4, 7-1 A-10) as picked up its 17th consecutive win at home. Treveon Graham contributed 10 points and six rebounds.

Jarrelle Reischel paced Rhode Island (11-12, 2-6) with 11 points. Xavier Munford was limited to 10 points on 4-of-15 efficiency from the floor. Gilvydas Biruta nearly recorded a double-double as he posted nine points and pulled down a game-high 14 boards.

VCU took a 41-21 lead into the intermission after it connected on 45.5 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half. URI was held to 25 percent shooting from the floor before the break.

The visitors heated up to sink 42.9 percent of their field goal tries in the second stanza. VCU managed to make good on only 6-of-29 shots from the floor over the final 20 minutes of the contest, but protected its lead by converting 13-of-16 attempts at the free-throw line.

VCU scored 22 points off of URI's 22 turnovers and held a 44-40 edge in the rebounding battle.
