Recap: Lehigh vs. Boston Univ

Bethlehem, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - A pair of free throws by D.J. Irving in the final seconds pushed the Boston University Terriers to a thrilling 67-66 win over the Lehigh Mountain Hawks in Patriot League action at Stabler Arena.

Irving finished the meeting with 14 points, one of four BU starters to reach double figures. Dom Morris led the way with 15 points and nine rebounds as he knocked down 7-of-8 shots from the floor for the Terriers (9-6, 2-0 Patriot), followed by John Papale with 14 points and Maurice Watson who turned in a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 12 assists for a squad that won for the third time in the last four outings.

The Mountain Hawks (8-7, 1-1) were led by Mackey McKnight who tallied a game- high 23 points, shooting 4-of-7 behind the 3-point line, while Jesse Chuku and Corey Schaefer both dropped in 11 points as the team bowed for the second time in three games.

A close game throughout, Lehigh led by as many as five points in the first half, shooting a solid 46.4 percent from the floor and 5-of-11 behind the 3- point line, but even with a mere 2-of-10 showing beyond the arc through the first 20 minutes, it was Boston that claimed a 34-33 edge at the break.

In the second half the lead for the Terriers grew as large as nine points, but a late 7-0 run in the final minutes brought Lehigh back. In fact, the team took a 66-65 lead after McKnight completed a three-point play with just under 10 seconds remaining, but it was Irving who played the hero for the visitors in the final moments.

The Terriers survived despite shooting just 6-of-25 behind the 3-point line and 5-of-9 at the charity stripe.
