Recap: Tenn Tech vs. SIU Edwardsville

Cookeville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Dennis Ogbe led the way with 16 points as the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles held off a late run by the SIU Edwardsville Cougars to capture a 64-63 victory in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Eblen Center.

Ogbe shot 7-of-9 from the field for TTU (10-9, 3-1 OVC), which has won back- to-back games. Jeremia Samarrippas added 11 points on 3-of-6 from 3-point range for the hosts.

For SIUE (4-13, 1-3), Kris Davis paced all scorers with 17 points to go with eight rebounds, while Keaton Jackson netted 11 points off the bench.

TTU shot a modest 42.3 percent from the floor in the opening stanza but managed to hold SIUE to a mere 24 percent shooting, as it carried a 32-22 lead into intermission.

The Golden Eagles extended their advantage to as many as 20 early in the second half, but the Cougars would not roll over, as they battled all the way back to make it just a one-point game with 20 seconds left on a Donovine Stewart layup, After Shirmane Thomas missed a pair of free throws for TTU with 10 seconds left, SIUE had the final possession with a chance to win the game, but Stewart missed a layup in the waning seconds.

TTU won despite shooting just 11-of-23 from the charity stripe.
