Recap: Tennessee St vs. Murray State

Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Jonathan Fairell scored 17 points on 8- of-9 shooting as the Murray State Racers beat the Tennessee State Tigers, 73-65, in an Ohio Valley Conference tilt at the Gentry Center.

Jarvis Williams registered a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Racers (14-9, 9-2 OVC), who have won four of their last five games. Cameron Payne logged 16 points, six assists and four steals and T.J. Sapp added 10 points.

Patrick Miller finished with 26 points for the Tigers (3-23, 2-10), who have lost two straight. Kennedy Eubanks chipped in 13 points, and M.J. Rhett notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Murray State made 46.9 percent from the floor in the first half, including 6- of-12 from 3-point range, and led 37-28 at the break. Tennessee State shot just 37 percent on its field goal attempts in the frame.

The Racers connected on 56.5 percent of their field goal tries in the second period as they cruised to victory. The Tigers converted 51.9 percent of their shots from the field but were unable to catch up to Murray State.

Murray State better capitalized on the Tigers' mistakes, as they outscored the home team, 16-8, in points off turnovers.
