Recap: Murray State vs. Tenn-Martin

Murray, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Jarvis Williams produced a double-double consisting of 20 points and a game-high 15 rebounds as the Murray State Racers captured a 91-77 win over the Skyhawks of Tennessee Martin in Ohio Valley Conference play at the CFSB Center.

Cameron Payne led all scorers with 27 points on 6-of-10 shooting behind the 3- point line for the Racers (7-7, 2-0 OVC) as they picked up their second straight win. Jeffery Moss used a perfect 14-of-14 performance at the free- throw line to come up with 20 points, while T.J. Sapp converted all six of his chances at the charity stripe as he contributed 14 points off the bench.

Losers of five straight, the Skyhawks (5-13, 0-3) were paced by Terence Smith with 19 points, Followed by Marshun Newell with 17, Myles Taylor 15 points and Justin Childs 10 in the setback.

UTM shot a mere 33.3 percent from the floor in the first half, compared to a 58.3 percent effort by the hosts which allowed Murray State to move out to a 40-30 advantage at the break.

Both programs shot at least 50 percent from the field after intermission, but MSU pulled away on the strength of 26-of-31 at the free-throw line in the period.

For the game, the Racers outscored UTM by a 33-15 margin at the charity stripe.
