Recap: Ball State vs. Central Mich

Muncie, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Jesse Berry netted 20 points to lift the Ball State Cardinals to a 74-71 decision over the Central Michigan Chippewas in a Mid-American Conference bout at Worthen Arena.

Majok Majok registered a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds for Ball State (5-22, 2-14 MAC) as it snapped a 10-game losing streak. Zavier Turner came off the bench to contribute 12 points and seven assists, while Chris Bond tallied 10 points and eight boards.

The Chippewas (10-18, 3-13) came up short despite a stellar outing by Chris Fowler, who finished with 26 points, nine assists and five rebounds. Braylon Rayson netted 11 points in the team's second-straight setback.

The Cardinals managed to build a 10-point lead by the 1:44 mark of the first half, but CMU went into the intermission trailing, 30-29, after it ended the period on a 10-1 run. The hosts scored eight points off of turnovers before the break.

BSU never trailed in the second stanza. The Chippewas could trailed by multiple possessions from the 12:32 mark of the second half until Rayshawn Simmons knocked down a 3-pointer with just one second left. CMU then recorded a steal, but Austin Stewart's attempt from beyond the arc at the buzzer fell off the mark.

CMU connected on 42.9 percent of its field goal tries and held the hosts to 41.8 percent efficiency from the floor. The Cardinals outscored the Chippewas, 20-14, at the free-throw line.
