Recap: Richmond vs. Belmont

Richmond, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Terry Allen scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Richmond Spiders defeated the Belmont Bruins, 69-61, in a non-conference matchup at the Robins Center.

Cedrick Lindsay provided 15 points and five assists for Richmond (2-0) while Kendall Anthony added 14 points and three steals. Trey Davis pulled down seven of his team-high 11 rebounds in the second half for the Spiders.

Drew Windler and Blake Jenkins posted 13 points each for Belmont (1-1) as it suffered its first setback of the 2013-14 campaign. Windler also finished with nine rebounds while Nick Smith made all four of his field goal attempts to tally 10 points in 13 minutes off the bench.

Richmond knocked down 53.8 percent of its shots from the floor in the first half to take a 34-31 lead into the intermission. The Bruins let a 25-19 lead slip away and trailed at halftime despite hitting 56.5 percent of their field goal tries in the opening 20 minutes of the contest.

Both teams cooled off after the break as the Spiders went 1-of-9 from beyond the arc and Belmont made just 1-of-12 from behind the 3-point line in the second half. Richmond extended its lead by sinking 16-of-22 attempts at the charity stripe in the second stanza.

The Spiders held a narrow, 38-35, edge in the rebounding battle. Belmont could not overcome its 16 turnovers, which the hosts converted into 16 points.
