Recap: Richmond vs. Dayton
Richmond, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kendall Anthony scored 18 points to lead the way as the Richmond Spiders downed the Dayton Flyers, 73-64, in an Atlantic 10 Conference tilt at the Robbins Center.
Anthony went just 3-of-11 from the floor for Richmond (12-6, 2-1 A-10), but converted 11-of-12 attempts at the free-throw line. Cedrick Lindsay added 17 points with the help of an 11-of-13 showing at the charity stripe. Alonzo Nelson-Ododa tallied 11 points and seven boards while Terry Allen chipped in 10 points.
For the Flyers (13-5, 1-2), Dyshawn Pierre poured in a game-high 19 points and grabbed six boards.
Dayton took a 36-32 lead into the intermission after it connected on 60.8 percent of its shots from the floor in the opening period. The Spiders got off to a slow start, making only two of their first 10 field goal tries. The hosts trailed at the break after they hit on only 1-of-9 attempts from 3-point range in the first half.
Richmond played very well on both ends of the court in the second stanza. The Flyers were limited to 40.9 percent efficiency from the floor including a 1- of-9 clip from beyond the arc while the Spiders shot 45.5 percent from the field and converted 19-of-21 attempts at the free-throw line. Richmond closed out the game on a 10-1 run.
Despite the loss, Dayton held a slight, 30-29, edge in the rebounding battle and outscored the Spiders, 36-28, in the paint.Game Notes
