Recap: Rice vs. Rider

Santa Clara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Myles scored 27 points as he led the Rider Broncs to a 97-93 victory over the Rice Owls during the semifinals of the Cable Car Classic at the Leavey Center.

Daniel Stewart netted 19 points, Zedric Sadler tacked on 11 and Khalil Alford finished with 10 off the bench for Rider (2-3), which advances to face North Dakota State in the title game.

Austin Ramljak scored 25 points to lead five players in double figures for Rice (2-4). Seth Gearhart added 20 points and Max Guercy, Marcus Jackson and Keith Washington all chipped in 10. The Owls will face the loser of the North Dakota State/Santa Clara matchup in consolation action.

Rice clung to a 36-35 lead at halftime after hitting on 51.9 percent of its shots from the floor, including 7-of-17 from beyond the arc. The Broncs were right on the Owls' heels, connecting on 6-of-10 shots from 3-point range.

The teams traded leads six ties in the second period. Rider got out to a 12- point advantage at one point but the Owls ripped off a 13-2 run to claim an 83-82 edge with just over two minutes to play. Jackson then split a pair of free throws to inch Rice further ahead. However, Stewart hit a layup with 21 seconds left to tie the game up at 84-84 and force the extra session.

Rider connected on 3-of-6 field goal attempts and all six of its tries from the charity stripe in overtime to secure the victory.

The Broncs' massive edge in points off turnovers (17-3) was a major reason for their triumph.
