Recap: Texas State vs. Troy

San Marcos, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Joel Wright notched a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds, helping the Texas State Bobcats beat out the Troy Trojans 73-65 in a Sun Belt Conference clash at Oscar Strahan Coliseum.

Wright shot 7-of-11 from the field for the Bobcats (6-14, 2-5 Sun Belt), who bounced back after losing three straight. Emani Gant tallied a team-high 21 points and Phil Hawkins added 14.

Wes Hinton netted a game-high 24 points for the Trojans (7-13, 2-6), who have dropped four straight. Hunter Williams and Tevin Calhoun contributed 18 and 11 points, respectively.

The Trojans started strong, shooting 45.5 percent from the field in the first half, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range. The Bobcats were slightly more consistent, however, at 48.1 percent, and they took a 36-32 lead into halftime.

In the second half the Trojans couldn't find their shooting touch, hitting just 32.1 percent of their field goal tries, including 3-of-12 from the perimeter. The Bobcats, at 55.6 percent from the floor, put the game away quickly, extending their lead to as many as 14 points.

Texas State was dominant in the paint, where it outscored its opponent by a staggering 40-16 margin.
