Recap: TX-San Antonio vs. Marshall
San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Keon Lewis scored 23 points off the bench to lead the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners to a 90-81 triumph over the Marshall Thundering Herd in the Conference USA opener for each team at the Convocation Center.
Hyjii Thomas added 14 points for UTSA (5-9, 1-0 C-USA), which had lost three of its previous four. Phillip Jones tacked on 11 points and seven rebounds and Devon Agusi dropped in 10 points.
Kareem Canty scored a game-high 26 points for Marshall (6-10, 0-1), which has lost three of its last four. Shawn Smith contributed 16 points off the bench and Chris Thomas chimed in with 11 before fouling out.
UTSA came out firing and, after shooting 51.9 percent from the floor, including a 4-of-5 showing from beyond the arc in the first half, led 41-40 at the break. Marshall shot at just a 43.8 percent clip in the period but it managed to earned nine offensive rebounds.
The Roadrunners improved to 61.5 percent shooting in the second period to pull away for the win.
UTSA had a 23-17 edge in scoring from the free-throw line and a 47-34 advantage in points off the bench. The game featured 13 ties and 16 lead changes.Game Notes
