Recap: Louisiana Tech vs. Marshall

Ruston, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Alex Hamilton dropped in a game-high 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field, as the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs downed the Marshall Thundering Herd, 98-77, in a Conference USA bout at the Thomas Assembly Center.

For the Bulldogs (17-4, 4-1 C-USA), Kenyon McNeail added 22 points, Kenneth Smith posted a double-double with 17 points and 13 assists and Jaron Johnson also scored 17.

Ryan Taylor led the Thundering Herd (7-14, 1-5) with a double-double, scoring 17 and pulling down 11 rebounds, while Kareem Canty finished with 16 points and Chris Thomas chipped in with 13.

Louisiana Tech was hot from the start, connecting on 50 percent of its field goal tries and knocking down 4-of-15 from beyond the arc, as the Bulldogs led big at halftime, 57-39. Though they shot an impressive 58.3 percent from the field in the first, the Herd failed to make any of their four attempts from 3- point range.

After intermission, the Bulldogs kept up the pace, shooting 56 percent in the half. The Herd made 45.5 percent of their shots from the floor in the second and 2-of-7 from 3-point range but were not able to make a dent in the huge Bulldog lead. Tech pushed its advantage to as many as 25 points, as it cruised to the win.

Much of the damage in the game was down in the frontcourt, with the Bulldogs outscoring the Herd in the paint, 52-44. Tech also forced 22 turnovers and converted them into 29 points, while committing just 10 miscues of its own.
