Recap: Kennesaw St vs. FIU

Kennesaw, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Rakeem Buckles recorded a double-double as the FIU Panthers claimed a 66-58 victory over the Kennesaw State Owls as part of the Kennesaw State Men's Basketball Tournament at the KSU Convocation Center.

Buckles finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds for FIU (1-2), which earned its first win of the season. Raymond Taylor added 15 points and five assists. Jerome Frink tacked on 13 points and seven rebounds and Tymell Murphy chipped in 12 points and three steals.

Delbert Love scored a game-high 24 points for Kennesaw State (0-3). Bernard Morena added 10 points and Orlando Coleman secured 10 rebounds.

Buckles scored 11 points in the first half but the Panthers shot at just a 38.5 percent rate and entered the locker room tied at 32-32 with the Owls. Kennesaw State shot an even 40 percent from the floor in the first period.

After the break the Panthers were able to connect on 46.4 percent of their shots from the field while limiting the Owls to just 10 total field goals.

Led by Buckles the Panthers had a 38-19 advantage on points in the paint. Kennesaw State got 33 points from its bench.
