Recap: Southern Ill vs. Missouri State

Carbondale, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Beane scored a game-high 26 points as the Southern Illinois Salukis cruised to a 72-54 win over the Missouri State Bears in a Missouri Valley Conference tilt at SIU Arena.

Also scoring in double figures for the Salukis (10-15, 6-6 MVC), as they extended their win streak to four in a row, was Desmar Jackson with 11 points, to go along with six rebounds and three assists.

The Bears (16-8, 6-6) were led by Jarmar Gulley with 15 points, Devon Thomas posted 11 and Ron Mvouika accounted for seven points and a game-high 10 rebounds for a team that had a brief two-game win streak snapped.

Missouri State led by a pair midway through the first half, but the team ended up shooting only 1-of-4 behind the 3-point line in the frame, allowing the Salukis to slip out to a 29-27 lead at the break.

In the second half the SIU defense held visitors to just seven field goals, including 1-of-10 beyond the arc, making it that much easier for the Salukis to take the 18-point win at home.

The Bears finished the night shooting only 2-of-14 on the perimeter and 37.8 percent from the floor overall.
