Recap: Wyoming vs. Colorado State

Laramie, WY (SportsNetwork.com) - Nathan Sobey exploded for 33 points as the Wyoming Cowboys took down the Colorado State Rams, 83-75, in a Mountain West Conference bout at Arena Auditorium.

Sobey converted 11-of-22 shots from the floor, including 4-of-8 behind the 3- point line, for the Cowboys (17-13, 8-9 MWC) as they snapped a four-game slide to close out regular-season play during the second installment of the Border War. Josh Adams contributed 22 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the hosts, followed by Derek Cooke Jr with 14 points and four boards before fouling out.

The Rams (16-14, 7-10), losers of two of the last three, were led by JJ Avila with 21 points and nine boards before he picked up his fifth personal foul. Daniel Bejarano also fouled out, but not before posting 15 points and seven rebounds. Joe De Ciman tacked on 13 points prior to making an early exit as well.

Colorado State fell behind right out of the chute, converted a mere six field goals in the first half and trailed at the break, 44-29. The Rams connected on just 1-of-7 behind the 3-point line, but stayed alive with a 16-of-19 effort at the free-throw line through the first 20 minutes of action.

In the second half the Rams made a run by hitting on 7-of-15 shots on the perimeter, but the team was unable to come all the way back from an 18-point deficit in the period.

CSU connected on an impressive 27-of-33 at the charity stripe for the game, but still it was not enough to overcome just 35.7 percent shooting from the field.
