Recap: Loyola-Chicago vs. Missouri State
Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Devon Turk scored a game-high 30 points, leading five players in double figures, as the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers pummeled the Missouri State Bears, 89-57, in Missouri Valley Conference action at the Gentile Center.
Milton Doyle added 13 points and Jeff White 11 for the Ramblers (6-8, 1-1 MWC) as they snapped a three-game slide. Christian Thomas and Cody Johnson both contributed 10 points to the victory.
The Bears (11-3, 1-1) were led by Marcus Marshall who tallied 11 points, followed by Devon Thomas with 10 as the squad saw a three-game win streak come to an end.
Missouri State led by a basket early on in the meeting, but the team shot only 3-of-10 behind the 3-point line in the first half and at the same time permitted the hosts to convert 53.8 percent from the floor, en route to a 42-28 margin at the break.
Loyola shot not only 60.8 percent from the field for the game, but also 56.3 percent (9-of-16) behind the 3-point line in the meeting. Add to that an 18- of-20 effort at the free-throw line and a defense that held Missouri State to only 4-of-20 shooting beyond the arc and it was rather easy for the hosts to cruise to the comfortable victory.Game Notes
