Recap: Missouri State vs. Indiana State

Springfield, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Austin Ruder scored a game-high 15 points as the Missouri State Bears downed the Indiana State Sycamores, 77-66, in a Missouri Valley Conference matchup at JQH Arena.

Jarmar Gulley chipped in 14 points, nine rebounds and four assists for Missouri State (18-10, 8-8 MVC) as it concluded a two-game losing streak. Ron Mvouika added 12 points and Keith Pickens scored 10 points to go along with eight boards.

Jake Odum led the Sycamores (21-7, 12-4) with 14 points. Dawon Cummings contributed 12 points before fouling out. The loss snapped ISU's four-game winning streak.

The Bears took a 37-26 lead into halftime after they connected on 45.8 percent of its field goal attempts including a 5-of-10 clip from 3-point range in the opening period. ISU was limited to 27.8 percent efficiency from the floor in the first half.

The Sycamores heated up to sink 41.4 percent of their field goal tries and also converted 12-of-15 attempts at the charity stripe after the break. MSU protected its lead by sinking 20-of-22 shots at the free-throw line in the second half. ISU managed to narrow the deficit to a single point at 51-50, with 7:11 remaining in regulation, but the Bears never trailed in the contest.

The Sycamores were guilty of 15 turnovers, which the hosts turned into 15 points.
