Recap: Loyola-Chicago vs. Illinois State

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Christian Thomas and Joe Crisman each tallied 17 points to lead the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers over the Illinois State Redbirds, 79-69, in Missouri Valley Conference play at the Gentile Center.

Thomas pulled down eight rebounds to boost his stat line in the win. Nick Osborne and Milton Doyle each contributed 14 points for the Ramblers (9-15, 4-8 MVC), with Osborne adding nine boards. Doyle grabbed five rebounds and dished out five assists in the win, which snapped a three-game losing skid.

Paris Lee scored 14 points to lead Illinois State (13-11, 6-6). Daishon Knight tallied 10 points and five assists in the loss, which shut down a two-game win streak for the Redbirds.

Loyola-Chicago hit 58.3 percent of its field goal tries in the first half, and took a commanding 37-20 lead into the intermission. Illinois State shot a dismal 27.3 percent in the first frame, including 1-of-11 from 3-point range.

The Ramblers hardly let up in the second half, connecting on 51.9 percent of their attempts and making 11-of-15 from the free-throw line. The Redbirds upped their percentage to 59.3 in the period, but could only make a seven- point dent in the Loyola-Chicago lead.

The Ramblers had the advantage in rebounding, 37-23, and in points in the paint, 32-26. Illinois State won the battle in bench points, 24-8.
