Recap: Evansville vs. Missouri State

Evansville, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Jarmar Gulley and Ron Mvouika each had double-doubles for the Missouri State Bears, as they topped the Evansville Purple Aces, 66-54, in Missouri Valley Conference action at the Ford Center.

Gulley logged 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Bears (16-7, 6-5 MVC), who have won four of their last five games. Mvouika recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds for the visitors.

Egidiju Mockevicius also had a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Purple Aces (10-14, 3-8), who dropped their third straight. Blake Simmons and D.J. Balentine contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Bears came out shooting 41.4 percent from the field in the first half, better than the Purple Aces' 39.1 percent and good for a 31-27 halftime lead.

Both teams' production dipped in the second half, with the Bears shooting 39.1 percent and the Aces shooting just 32.1 percent, including 0-of-11 from 3- point range. The Bears picked up some momentum at the free-throw line, where they sank 15-of-24, and they led by as many 14 points, just over eight minutes into the half.

Evansville missed all 13 attempts from beyond the arc in the contest and were outrebounded, 44-34.
