Recap: Evansville vs. Miami-Ohio

Evansville, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - D.J. Balentine scored 22 points to lead the Evansville Purple Aces over the Miami-Ohio Redhawks, 78-65, in a non- conference matchup at the Ford Center.

For the Purple Aces (6-3), Egidiju Mockevicius posted a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Duane Gibson finished with 12 points and Blake Simmons scored 10.

Reggie Johnson led the way for the Redhawks (1-5) with 21 points, while Geovonie McKnight and Will Felder each chipped in with 13.

Evansville connected on 50 percent of its field goal tries in the first half, including 3-of-5 from 3-point distance, as the Purple Aces took a 38-28 lead at intermission. Miami was held to just 36.7 percent shooting from the field and only 2-of-11 from beyond the arc.

The Redhawks continued to struggle from the field after halftime, making only 41.4 percent of their field goal tries and missing all but one of their five 3-point attempts. The Purple Aces picked up where they left off in the first, shooting 54.5 percent in the second half. Miami could get no closer than eight in the period, as the Purple Aces cruised to victory and snapped a three-game losing streak,

Evansville dominated Miami on the boards, outrebounding the Redhawks 42-25. The Purple Aces also outscored the Redhawks at the free-throw line, 28-16.
