Recap: USC vs. Northern Ariz

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Byron Wesley scored 21 points and nearly notched a double-double as the USC Trojans survived with a 67-63 victory over the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks in a non-league duel at the Galen Center.

Wesley hit 11-of-16 shots from the field and grabbed nine rebounds as the only player in double figures for USC (2-1).

Aaseem Dixon netted 20 points, Quinton Upshur added 18 and Max Jacobsen put in 16 for Northern Arizona (1-2).

In the first half the Lumberjacks knocked down 7-of-14 shots from beyond the arc to claim a 40-30 lead at the break. USC hit just 41.9 percent from the field overall and missed all eight tries from 3-point range.

After the break the Lumberjacks cooled off, knocking down just 25.7 percent of their shots and a mere 2-of-14 from beyond the arc. The Trojans improved to 47.6 percent shooting during the period while enjoying a 15-3 edge on points from the free throw line.

The Trojans had 22 more free throw attempts than the Lumberjacks, but shot at just a 52.8 percent rate from the charity stripe (19-of-36).
