Recap: Penn vs. Cornell

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tony Hicks scored 27 points and Fran Dougherty posted a double-double as the Penn Quakers held on for a 90-83 victory over the Cornell Big Red in Ivy League action at the Palestra.

Dougherty netted 17 points and brought in 10 rebounds for Penn (5-13, 2-2 Ivy League), which had lost three of its previous four. Miles Cartwright added 19 points for the Quakers.

Nolan Cressler notched 22 points for Cornell (1-18. 0-5), which has lost five straight and has yet to top a Division I opponent this season. Darryl Smith and Devin Cherry each had 15 points for the Big Red and David Onuorah registered 11 points and nine boards.

Penn ran out to a 50-32 lead at intermission, sinking 64.5 percent from the floor in the first half, compared to a 39.3 percent performance from Cornell.

The Big Red turned the tables in the second period, shooting 51.4 percent from the field to slice into the Quakers' lead. However, Penn hit on 56.5 percent from the field, making up for the 12 fewer field goal attempts it had in the frame.

Cornell lost despite owning a 19-3 advantage in second chance points.
