Recap: Yale vs. Cornell

New Haven, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - Javier Duren shot 3-of-7 from 3-point range and 6-of-6 at the foul line for 19 points, as the Yale Bulldogs outlasted the Cornell Big Red, 61-57, in Ivy League action at John J. Lee Amphitheater.

Justin Sears came off the bench to tally 11 points and 11 rebounds for Yale (9-9, 3-1 Ivy), which has won four of five.

Nolan Cressler paced all scorers with a career-high 29 points for Cornell (1-17, 0-4), shooting 8-of-16 from the floor and a perfect 10-of-10 at the stripe. Devin Cherry was also stellar with 19 points.

Yale shot just 40 percent from the field in the first half, but it held Cornell to a lowly 31.8 percent shooting and carried a 26-19 lead into the halftime locker room.

After leading by as many as 14 points in the second half, the Bulldogs saw their advantage disappear when the Big Red tied the game at 47 on a pair of Cressler free throws with 5:25 remaining. Yale proceeded to go on a 7-2 run, however, and held on to the lead down the stretch.

Yale dominated on the glass, outrebounding Cornell, 42-26. The Bulldogs also got 22 points from their bench, while Big Red's reserves failed to score, shooting 0-of-6 from the field.
